It is a period when children are free to dream, imagine, and discover the world around them. Giving children the chance to be children is essential for their healthy development and well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When children are allowed to play freely, they learn valuable life skills such as self-regulation, problem-solving, creativity, and cooperation. They also develop a sense of self-worth and confidence. By encouraging unstructured play, we are helping children to build strong foundations for their future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This does not mean that there should be no adult engagement in the play. Quite the contrary. Through loving adult interaction, children learn how to consider the thoughts, feelings and perspectives of others around them. Conversations with adults shapes the way children think and interpret their world. Spending time with the grown ups, doing even daily living things like grocery shopping or cleaning up the house or making dinner, models for children the way in which we can find joy in these activities too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is important to protect children from the pressures of adult life. This means considering age appropriateness of exposure to adult conversations, limiting their exposure to technology, social media, and excessive academic demands. Instead, we should encourage them to spend time outdoors (and spend time outdoors with them!), engaging in physical activities and exploring nature. These experiences help children to connect with the world around them and develop a love for learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately, giving children the chance to be children is about providing them with the safe space and freedom to grow and develop at their own pace. They will have many years to do adulting. By protecting their childhood, guiding and nurturing their natural curiosity and imagination, we are helping them to become well-rounded individuals who are capable of making a positive impact on the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Joy of Childhood Childhood should be a precious time of innocence, wonder, and exploration.
